Warner Home Video (WHV) is set to release the sixth and final season of the hilarious family sitcom that launched the acting career of superstar Will Smith.  The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: The Complete Sixth Season, will be available on DVD April 19, 2011.  This release will feature 24 episodes on three discs.

Will Smith and the rest of the cast take their final bows on the sixth and final season of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. A lot has happened since Will originally showed up on the Banks’ Bel-Air doorstep and the final season keeps the fun rolling to the very end with hip comedy style, phat one-liners, and a not-to-be-missed blooper episode.

During the last season of the show, Will dates the ugly sister of an upcoming comedian played by Chris Rock. Carlton decides to run away prior to his interview with a representative from Princeton. Will and Carlton go to Las Vegas to celebrate Carlton’s 21st birthday. Hillary decides she wants to have a baby. Phil and Vivian break up after Phil becomes wrapped up in politics but everyone else tries to get them back together. Geoffrey’s long lost son visits. Hillary’s show moves to New York and Phil puts the house up for sale.

Season six guest stars include William Shatner, B.B. King, Dick Clark, Richard Roundtree, Wayne Newton and Chris Rock.

She added, “This show had an enormous impact on viewers. It drew a big audience and built a loyal, dedicated fan base that remains devoted to this day. We are delighted to have released all six seasons of this extraordinary family comedy.”

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air originally aired for six seasons, from 1990 to 1996, and became a big hit for NBC. The show focuses on Will Smith, whom, as a teenager from inner city Philadelphia is sent to California to live with his wealthy relatives. The sixth season of the show aired from September 1995 to May 1996.  Since its original broadcast, the series has enjoyed numerous runs in syndication both on cable and broadcast channels. The first five seasons of the program are currently available on DVD.

Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, an all-new movie on Blu-ray and DVD, stars Ashley Tisdale reprising her role as Disney Channel’s global sensation “High School Musical” drama queen character Sharpay Evans. After a talent scout spots her performing with her dog Boi at a charity gala, Sharpay Evans (Tisdale) sets off for the bright lights of NYC, convinced instant fame and fortune are in the bag (designer bag, that is). But theatre’s a dog-eat-dog world, as she and Boi discover when they encounter the devious owner of a pampered pooch named “Countess” and a scheming Broadway starlet who will do anything to crush the competition. Fortunately, Sharpay also meets Peyton (Austin Butler), a handsome student filmmaker who finds Sharpay nearly as fascinating as she finds herself.

Fox’s “Million Moments” campaign, a yearlong event featuring seasonal Blu-ray Disc and DVD releases grouped by month, celebrates the studio’s catalog of films. The Easter collection contains hours of family moments with favorites like Ice Age, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown and Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, Horton Hears a Who, Pink Panther 2, and Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian.  Here are highlights from the April releases:

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is bringing even more classics to DVD in April through “manufacturing on demand”. The newest group of films will be part of the MGM Limited Edition Collection and available through online retailers. The catalog ranges from 1950’s DAVDY CROCKETT to 1965’s four-time Academy Award® nominated A THOUSAND CLOWNS.

DAVEY CROCKETT, SCOUT (1950): A U.S. military scout is assigned to stop Indian attacks on a defenseless group of wagon trains making their way West. Stars George Montgomery, Ellen Drew, Noah Beery Jr. Directed by Lew Landers.
CLOUDBURST (1951): A World War II veteran, working in the British Foreign Office, avenges his wife’s murder. Stars Robert Preston, Elizabeth Sellars, Noel Howlett, Harold Lang. Directed by Francis Searle.
CHICAGO CONFIDENTIAL (1957): Brian Keith stars as Jim Fremont, an Illinois States Attorney fighting corrupt unions in Chicago. The union crooks in collaboration with a gambling syndicate try to pin a murder rap on an uncooperative union leader Blane (Dick Foran). Fremont and his co-worker fiancee Laura (Beverly Garland), work to prove Blane’s innocence and to punish the true villains. Also stars Brian Keith. Directed by Sidney Salkow.
FORT BOWIE (1958): Attempting to affect peace between his men and the Apaches, the commander of a fort unwittingly inspires an Indian massacre. Stars Ben Johnson, Kent Taylor, Jan Harrison, Jana Davi. Directed by Howard W. Koch.

CALL OF THE WILD (1972): Based on the 1903 Jack London (WHITE FANG) adventure classic, CALL OF THE WILD is an exciting tale of gold fever and adventure in the Yukon. Also Stars Charlton Heston. Directed by Ken Annakin.
OLD DRACULA (1975): In this spoof of the Transylvanian legend, David Niven stars as Count Dracula, who sinks his fangs into a bevy of Playboy Bunnies in order to find the right blood type to resurrect his dear-departed wife. DEFIANCE (1980): An out-of work merchant seaman single-handedly tames a powerful street gang (“The Souls”) that has been terrorizing his neighborhood on New York City’s Lower East Side. Stars Jan Michael Vincent, Theresa Saldana, Art Carney. Directed by John Flynn.
PATTY HEARST (1988): A dramatization of the newspaper heiress’ abduction and subsequent brainwashing by the Symbionese Liberation Army. Stars Natasha Richardson, William Forsythe, Ving Rhames, Dana Delany, Frances Fisher, Jodi Long. Directed by Paul Schrader. 

The epic finale begins with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1”, which arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital Download on April 15th. Setting the stage for the much anticipated theatrical release of  “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” this summer, the entire ensemble cast is back for this must-see seventh installment of the top-grossing motion picture franchise in history, based on the best-selling book series by J.K. Rowling.

New York City students helped Scholastic celebrate the 20th Anniversary of its I SPY brand Wednesday in Times Square during the event, “I SPY A Celebration: 20 Years; 20 Kids; 20 Riddles.”  For finding 20 hidden objects around a 12-foot-high birthday cake, the students’ school will receive 500 books.  In addition to its new book I SPY SPECTACULAR, the anniversary year will see new I SPY releases from Briarpatch and Scholastic Interactive.  Photo: A.
