CONFESSIONS OF ST. MARY'S - ERIC SOLLARS
Series: SCREENPLAY, AGES 12-18
Description - A burglar witnesses a shooting and flees to his childhood haunts at St. Mary's Church and Hospital where he must outsmart more crooks to save the hospital before the police catch up with him.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - I found this thoroughly engaging and having excellent commercial potential. The script takes the concept of choice to a clever level. Characters are believable - whether a minister, a greedy hustler's girlfriend, a witless partner in crime, a lovely surgeon as love interest, a good Italian friend, an ailing child undergoing surgery, or the hero becoming true to himself and his talents in life. The rich, diverse series of sub plots and action allows the audience to appreciate each character. The main character's ability to use quick thinking, see through lies, innate kindness and penchant for witty language, made him continually engaging whose success is applauded. It is a fast paced, clever script. I give it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 12 to 18, plus Adults. Reviewed by Juror #11.

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL'S TOTEM - CIRQUE DU SOLEIL
Series: LIVE PERFORMANCE, AGES 4-18
Description - Totem traces the fascinating journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. The characters evolve on a stage evoking a giant turtle, the symbol of origin for many ancient civilizations. Inspired by many founding myths, Totem illustrates, through a visual and acrobatic language, the evolutionary progress of species. Somewhere between science and legend, Totem explores the ties that bind man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - coming soon
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - I have recently seen the new Cirque du Soleil show: Totem, and I think that it is the best as far a circuses go. This was my first time to ever see a Cirque du Soleil show and my experience was a nice introduction. For those who have not seen the show, no circus compares to this circus. I hope to start seeing the show every time there is one in town. During the show I was awestruck when I found out that all of the music in the show is live; the artists sounded so good that it was unreal. The show's themes goes from swimming to evolution, to science, to space, to aliens, to clowns and more. It can be hard to follow at times, but that hardly matters because of the amazing performers and performances. The performers' costumes are uniquely beautiful. The costumes depicted the setting for each performance and shows the theme in each, again like evolution. The title of the show itself: Totem, means a natural object or animal believed by a particular society to have spiritual significance and adopted by it as an emblem, and this show had spiritual significance. In the beginning of the show, the aerialists are emerging from what looks like a giant jungle gym and do so many twists and turns that I felt dizzy for them. I always wanted to be in the circus when I was younger, but now that I look back; I realize that I can barely walk on my two feet let alone a moving object. My favorite act was a group of what I call synchronized uni-cyclers with bowls balancing on their heads. On top of all this coordination, they blindly toss them into the bowls on top on each other's heads. This is just amazing and I think that the audience went the craziest for this. This show is child-friendly and there is only one crude joke. Depending on how old the child is, they might not catch it. I ironically recommend this movie for children and adults of all ages; this show can entertain anyone. Also, luckily and randomly, I met the actor Terrence Howard while seeing the show and sat next to another film critic. I give this show five out of five stars because of the great introduction to a Cirque du Soleil show, and for the constant astonishment and entertainment. I look forward to seeing another show.
