Children enjoyed the familiar stories best. Younger kids tuned in to the duck story and laughed at the bears in Blueberries for Sal. They asked questions about the past, discussed going to the beach, and the effects of a storm.
Stories are charming with beautiful illustrations. The iconographic presentation and outdated themes and roles definitely limit its appeal. Time of Wonder is particularly slow, long and dry.
Anthology includes: "Lentil" - about a boy and his harmonica; "Make Way for Ducklings" - the classic tale of ducks who find a new home; "Blueberries for Sal" - the literature-based tale in which Sal gets lost and goes home with the wrong mother.
