Children danced along with the songs. They discussed how Bartok kept trying, without giving up, and became the hero he always wanted to be. Kids had trouble understanding what Bartok was saying. "Even though Bartok was little, he did big things."
Story line is logical and consistent. Bartok keeps the scariest places from being taken too seriously. Teaches the moral that looks can be deceiving. Contains adult language and humor, female stereotypes and a wicked queen who mistreats slaves.
Bartok the Magnificent enjoys performing acts of heroism in front of crowds in Moscow, but it's only an act. When Prince Ivan is kidnapped, a real hero is needed. Bartok must find the courage to save the prince before an evil regent takes the throne.
