Stimulated children's interest in the opera and William Tell. "I like the line 'friends are like money - hard to get and easy to throw away.'" "I liked the ghost." Girls liked it more than boys, especially the romantic climax.
Beautifully done, lovely costumes and sets. Filled with facts and information. The story depends a lot on the background narration and is sometimes confusing. Somewhat didactic in presenting history and meaning of the opera. Good friendship models.
Reliana is transported back in time to a theatre in which Rossini is about to launch "The Barber of Seville." Invisible to everyone but Rossini, Reliana watches her grandmother and a friend fight over the composer and the opera's disastrous premiere.
