Kids really liked the story line and special effects, especially boys. "I was really nervous and excited to see what happened at the end." "The submarine was cool but the squid looked fake."

Though dated, the story is exciting. Underwater photography is excellent. It sparks an interest in science, modern submarines. Contains some aggressive language and behaviors and characters that smoke.

A routine scientific expedition to the North Pole turns into a race to save mankind when a polar ice cap is on fire and threatens the world. A submarine is sent to the rescue. Cast includes Peter Lorre, Barbara Eden and Frankie Avalon.
