Enjoyed by girls more than boys. Dated; some kids saw the nuns dressed in traditional habits from the back and thought they were some kind of "bad guy." Could be a springboard for reading the book.

Shirley Temple plays the spirited young heroine in the classic novel on which the movie is based. Although the orphan is forced to live with her gruff grandfather, he eventually comes to adore her.
