Kids enjoyed the screening. Many just loved it. Others found some parts scary and asked, "Turn it to a different part. This is naughty." These scenes offer good talking points for parents to discuss Sid's behavior with their children. Most children would never consider abusing their toys, and by discussing it, you can turn the negative part into something objective.
This was the first feature-length animated film from Pixar and remains a beloved classic. The quality of its animation and the intrigue of the toy characters captures you from the get go. Kids can relate to the bully Sid who lives next door. Parents should be aware that Sid has some pretty bizarre behavior, such as blowing up toys, that make you wonder where his parents are during all of that. The clever dialogue between the toys is charming. Narration by Tom Hanks is outstanding. Nostalgic in many ways - starting with the types of toys in Andy's room.
Toy Story is about the secret life of toys when people are not around and the boy, Andy who loves them - especially his doll named "Woody." Woody believes that he has a life beyond being a toy as well. When newcomer Buzz Lightyear - a space-ranger, crash-lands in Woody's world Woody doesn't like the situation and gets into a fight with Buzz. Accidentally, Buzz falls out the window and Woody is accused by the other toys of having killed him. Their rivalry lands them in the hands of a toy's worst nightmare - Sid, the toy-torturing boy next door. By working together and recognizing their friendship, they manage to survive. Directed by John Lasseter. Voice talent by Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney, Wallace Shawn, Laurie Metcalf.
