The best. Entirely held kids' attention. Made them feel sad and then happy. "Pretty cool even though it is old."
Charming, great cast and well produced. It so typically reveals society in the 40s. What kids today don't realize is what an anomaly a divorced working mom was at that time. Divorce was rare and shunned by society. Natalie Wood plays a brilliant six-year-old. While some items are unreal, the story is so strong that it suspends reality. It really isn't about Christmas but about the role of fantasy and imagination in our lives. Winner of Oscar for Best Screenplay.
Six year old Susan has doubts childhood's most enduring miracle Santa Clause. Her mother told her the "secret" about Santa a long time ago, so Susan doesn't expect to receive the most important gifts on her Christmas list. But after meeting a special department store Santa who's convinced he's the real thing, Susan is given the most precious gift of all - something to believe in. 1947 cast includes Natalie Wood, Maureen O'Hara, John Payne and Edmund Gwenn. 1994 cast includes Richard Attenborough, Elizabeth Perkins, Dylan McDermott and Mara Wilson.
