Opening is slow and didn't pull children in. Once they became engaged in the story they enjoy it. Kids love to watch Flipper's antics.

While the story is a bit corny, it's sweet. The talents of Flipper are fantastic. It starts out slowly but gains momentum when they get to the island. "Flipper is the hero." Underwater photography is outstanding.

Sandy and Flipper are threatened by the impending construction of a freeway to be built on their property. To avoid losing Flipper to the local aquarium, Sandy retreats to the sea with him.
