They noticed the dated look of the movie but enjoyed the story anyway and loved the music. Injun Joe was too scary for some. The murder scene is disturbing although it's not graphically depicted. It sparked an interest in reading more Twain.
Good introduction to the work of Mark Twain this time as a musical, which helps keep the kids interested. Encourages thinking about people's place within their community and community ethics.
This film version of Mark Twain's classic story is set to music and features a first-rate cast: Johnny Whitaker as Tom; Jodie Foster as Tom's girlfriend, Becky; Celeste Holm as Aunt Polly and Warren Oates as the boozy Muff Potter.
