The storyline follows a young girl, Doina, who has her first period on the same day that her grandma has a stroke. From that day on, their roles are reversed and Doina has to take care of her grandma, just like she has always taken care of Doina. When Doina's father wants to take grandma to a nursery home, Doina has to prove to him that she is capable of caring for her and that she needs her there for herself as she is the only mother figure she has ever known.
This heartfelt story definitely tugs at the emotions and it is beautifully acted. The relationship between the young girl and her grandma is so believable and heartfelt. The dad also cuts a striking figure. He is not trying to be mean by taking grandma to a nursing home; he is trying to be practical. Well shot; excellent camera and audio work, excellent editing. A story well told. Perfect for families, especially multigenerational families.
The film's message is about the importance of family in our life and the need to protect it.
