The story follows a young tween boy, Moti, who discovers a gold medal while collecting coins on the river bottom. What Moti hoped would bring him prosperity, leads him down the path of unexpected challenges from people thinking he had stolen it to others threatening his life.
Beautiful tale, wonderfully made. This is absolutely my favorite film of the week! I love the performance by Jihan Hodar who plays Moti, the young boy. His best friend, Sonu, played by Farhaan Shah, is also well enacted. Truthfully all the actors are to be commended. Ujjwal Patel, as writer, director and producer, has a precious gem on his hands. Himanshu Dubay, as cinematographer, delivers a visual story with wonderful attention to detail. And Aador Das's background music is absolutely spot on and really adds depth to the film. From start to finish, with a great pace, this is a joy to watch. You can't help but root for Moti, hoping he will escape those that try to grab the medal from him in one way or another. The ending is perfect, and a great twist as well.
The film's message is about true friendship and belonging.
I give Gold Medal 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 18. By Julie S., KIDS FIRST!
