Honestly, I can't stop laughing after watching this short film. True, it does deal with a fish dying, but hey, it's a make believe story and is completely preposterous.
The storyline follows a young girl, Emmy, who gets a goldfish for a pet and her dad discovers just how complicated that can be.
The animation by this college student, Maddie Helland, is superb. The pace of the film and its humor stand out. The sequence of events is completely unexpected and cleverly executed. I thoroughly loved it.
The film's message is to never underestimate the power of love, as seen by the dad's behavior as he tries to keep his daughter happy by not allowing her to see the dead fish.
I give Frankie 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 12, plus adults. By Julie S., KIDS FIRST!
