Charming story, well told. Xinxin loses his cat during the typhoon and his grandma tells him that the if they love each other, he will return. He meets a man in the stairwell, and they talk. He shares his grandmother's words with the man and sometime after that, the cat returns. This film, from China, is beautifully shot with images that portray a sense of calm and sincerity. You can feel the boy's love for his cat, who he only wants to be happy. The loss of the cat affects him deeply, and the conversation with the stranger somehow takes the sting away. I was delighted to see the cat magically reappear. The film's message is about hope and love. Give this film 3.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 12, plus adults. Xinxin lost his cat before the typhoon, but his grandma tells him that the person who loves each other will meet again. One night, attracted by the sound of a music box in the stairwell, he spots a strange man smoking. He throws candy at the man to stop him smoking. The next day, Xinxin and the man meet again in the stairwell. After some conversation, he inadvertently passes on the concept that his Grandma told him to the man. Soon after, Xinxin's cat comes back to him, and he posts a note on the stairwell's window telling the man this good news.
