I really find Stomp the Moon appealing. The dialogue is in Chinese with English subtitles and the cinematography, the sound quality, the acting are all on point.

The story follows a shy little Hmong girl, Aya, who, under the constant guidance of the moon, continues to conquer difficulties and obstacles. In a bathhouse wash, she accomplishes a self-transformation on her path of growth.

This film's production qualities are amazing, and the message is very inspiring. I really like how unpredictable the storyline is; it's very unusual. The cinematography is awesome - the shots are never shaky, and the camera movement and angles are outstanding. The costume designs for the dance scene are particularly striking; they go great with the scene, and the colors really pop out. The background music adds so much emotion and dramatic effect to the film. I like the resolution in the film of the two friends; they start out angry with each other and stop being friends, but towards the end they become friends again. My favorite part is when the teacher waits for Aya.

The film's message is that one can learn a lot through one's eyes.

I give Stomp the Moon 3.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 12. By Gavin S, KIDS FIRST!
