While searching for the secrets of Dreamstone and their identities, Phoebe and Abby risk their lives to save the beautiful world around them called home. Together, they help each other and their community as they struggle to protect their land and heritage. Mysteries arise as Phoebe unravels secrets in her small town and realizes that they are connected to a global conflict. She feels that all her hopes are in danger of being lost. A powerful gem called Dreamstone appears at the heart of the mystery.
I really like how, as the story progresses, we learn more and more about what the charm really is and what Phoebe's dreams are all about. The animation is outstanding; I really like how all the characters, especially the antagonist, look. Phoebe is a young woman, maybe in her 20s, with brown hair and appears wearing a red shirt. I really enjoyed Phoebe's character, especially when she dreams, and the dream with the weird tree person is particularly compelling. The antagonist wears a suit and tie and has a mean stretched-out face. The backgrounds are fantastic - I especially like the background in the opening scene in Phoebe's dream. The animation is really well constructed, but it is not full range animation and that might be an issue for some audiences.
My favorite part is when Phoebe dreams about the big tree person - the animation of the tree person makes him look like a superhero.
The film's message is that life's biggest journey is the one of finding out who you are. I give this film 3.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 12. By Gavin S., KIDS FIRST!
