What a lovely and touching story about a young person's experience during the pandemic.

A four year old struggles to cope with finding out his friend across the street has moved away during the height of Covid and unlocks another world.

Truly beautiful from start to finish and, anyone who lived during this pandemic, who was around children, can relate to this. The camera work is very good; the audio is excellent; the background music is perfect. The young family is sensitively represented; you can feel the love between the parents for each other and for their young child. The opening shots of the little boy communicating non verbally with his neighbor, a little girl his own age, are precious and enhanced by a bit of animation. The ending is equally suitable.

The film's message is a reminder of how people had to adjust their behavior during the shut down of the 2020 pandemic and make concessions to the lack of human interaction, except within people in your own household.

I give No New Friends 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 12, plus adults. By Julie S., KIDS FIRST!
