The story is about a green gnome, Giggle Wiggle, and a little girl who engage in a constant push and pull of conflicts, but are friends all the same.
The characters are cute as can be, especially the gnome. The little girl is a kick, although I could do without her high pitched squeaky voice. The narrator, on the other hand, has a terrific voice and his narrative pulls together the whole story, as well as its lesson at the end. I love the designs of the characters - they are whimsical and fun. The storyline features how the gnome is reluctant to do anything he is unfamiliar with - starting with not wanting to go into the water. But, once he gets in, he discovers that he loves it and doesn't want to leave. Later, when the moon turns strawberries into ice cream, he doesn't want to try it because he's never had ice cream before. Who does that remind you of? Someone in your life? I can definitely relate to this.
The message of this short piece is about trying things you've never done before.
I give Giggle Wiggle - Hot Summer Day 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 2 to 5. By Julie S., KIDS FIRST!
