The storyline is about a boy who promotes anti-bullying, but when he's put into a real life situation, he fails to act. Later he realizes that it all comes down to him.
The story shows how we should be caring and kind to others at all times. As the storyline progresses this theme becomes more and more prominent. There is only one character - the narrator (Tristan Williams). He realizes he needs to get off the screen and stop bullying in real life. Tristan Williams also wrote and co-directed and co-produce this film. I like when the narrator realizes he didn't make the best choice and commits to trying to be better in the future. It's a great message, simply told. I like the last screen with the quote from Mahatma Gandhi too, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." It's a great quote for us all to live by.
In terms of production, this short is made by a middle school student, so we want to let them know how much we appreciate their work. The camera work is a bit shaky at times and the images is a somewhat pixelated on my screen, so I don't think it would stand up to a screening on a big screen. However, for a virtual festival, it's fine. There is some background music that improves the story, but at times it's too loud and you can't really hear what's going on. Still, the story makes a strong statement.
The message is: when you see bullying be an up-stander not a bystander. It gives us a good message about the problems with bullying and how to deal with them.
I give Live It! 3.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 10 to 18, plus adults
