Oh my word - best film I've seen all day! This pro-feminist short that has a clever combination of animation and live action truly delivers a positive message about women. Delightful humor. Excellent production values. This will play in a youth or family festival for ages 8 to 18, plus adults. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it. Reviewed by Julie S., KIDS FIRST! Juror.
This four minute animated ballad chronicles the adventures of a prehistoric feminist. Almost 250,000 years ago, Zog, the first feminist, is born. She spends her life railing against societal expectations. After revolutionizing systems of hunting and agriculture and receiving no credit from the patriarchal establishment, she convenes a village meeting for women only. To the women of the village, she says: "Don't let those men tell you can't, because you can!" The village chief is not pleased, and orders her execution.
