I really like the film The Snow Queen: Mirrorlands because it's action-packed and full of magic. The animation is quite splendid. The music truly expresses the magical action. This film has a lot of wonderful characters including Gerda, her family, the Snow Queen, the Troll King, King Harald, Rollan and more. In the beginning, we see Gerda longing for magical powers while her family are all magicians. The story takes place in multiple fantasy locations - the Mirrorlands, the town, and the Troll Kingdom. King Harald invites all of the kingdom's magicians to his castle to pay them for their skills and plots to trick them and capture all of them into the Mirrorlands. Will Gerda and her friends help the magicians, including her family, get out? One of the directors of this movie is Robert Lence who has worked on Toy Story, A Bugs Life, Beauty and the Beast, Shrek and The Lion King. It is no surprise then that the animation is amazing! My favorite part is the ending, which, if you like surprises and happy endings, you will love. There are many positive messages throughout the film. My favorite one is that you don't need powers to save people, even if you want them and your entire family has them. Another message is that sometimes you have to work with others that you may not like to save someone or something. This film is kid friendly. It promotes teamwork and doing what's right. However, it does have guns and some attempted violence, so people don't always treat others nicely, including some of the kids. There isn't any bad language. I give this 3.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 7 to 10, as well as adult. If you like fantasy, you would really enjoy it. Reviewed by Katherine S., KIDS FIRST! Film Critic

A powerful king nearly lost his family due to the Snow Queen's evil deeds. He finds a way to withdraw all the magic from the world - they who master the magic powers get trapped into the Mirrorlands. The only one who can stop him and keep the fairytale in our world is Gerda - as her own superpower is not sourcery but her faith in kindness and friendship. In Gerda's new adventures, the Snow Queen herself will help her along with trolls and pirates.
