The two characters commiserate over their fate as residents of a slow-motion town. The girl seems ready to leave now. The boy wonders if and how he could ever leave. It's a common theme and dream about the frustration of many young people.
The accusations and blaming for things gone wrong is funny. The boy making his living mowing lawns is so true-to-life. It rang a bell for me about my own childhood memories. His crack about her perfume clouding his thoughts is endearing. She puts her head on his shoulder as a sign of true affection.
This student film is very well produced. It has excellent visuals and audio recording. The close ups are great as are the long shots. The music at the end is quite lovely but we need to get confirmation that the filmmaker has proper licensing to use it. Kudos to a well produced short film!
My favorite part is when he accuses her of trespassing. It's a ridiculous charge in someone's public backyard
The message is that home is often where the heart is and you often don't have to look very far to find your peace and perfection. This point is made very quickly in this short film.
I give this film 4 out of 5 stars. I recommend it for ages 12 to 18. Reviewed by Jeff M. and Julie S., KIDS FIRST! Adult Jurors.
