I'll confess, I did not like this film at first and then, it takes off and becomes quite wonderful. I love the kids' point of view and the irreverence of it all. I particularly love the musical choreographed section. The talk takes place in a middle school classroom which is meeting for the first time after summer vacation. The teacher is a bit over the top wacky. He assigns the kids to write about one of the books they were supposed to read over summer vacation and we discover that most of them didn't watch it. One kid did. They others con him into telling them about the book. That's when the fun breaks out, evolving to the whole class singing about their report and moving in unison. As a student production, this film delivers more than I expected. It's well constructed with good camera work and audio, although there are some audio glitches that occur. The best part is the pace and the humor. This truly would be a hit for any festival showing student made films. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 10 to 15, including adults.
