You either love him or hate him., or so it seems. I have to be honest and say I actually cried when Donald Trump became the 45th President. And those were not happy tears. This documentary shows a brief story of how President Trump took over the Republican party. His campaign seemed to be fueled by anger and his anger, more than anything, was directed at the establishment. This film shows how there was fighting among the Republican party itself and how Donald Trump was most concerned about "the win." One of my favorite parts of the movie is when John McCain took a stand and said to the President, "You're not a king. You're the President." This film also shows his racism and anger and his over-tweeting. And, it shows how he succeeded as being the leader when the Tax Cut Bill was passed. This film is well done and, although it doesn't show the President in the most favorable light, I feel it is quite truthful. Reviewed by Denise B., KIDS FIRST! Adult Juror.
President Donald Trump's first year in office has been marked by ongoing turmoil - including in his own Republican party, where presidential tweetstorms, inflammatory rhetoric and high-profile dissent have fueled open conflict. Gripping and revealing, this program tells the story of Trump's takeover of the Republican Party - from the perspective of Republican lawmakers and insiders themselves. TRUMP'S TAKEOVER examines the president's unorthodox governing style, showing how after taking office, he displayed a lack of interest in the ins and outs of legislation and policy, and instead took to Twitter, attacking opponents. The film goes behind closed doors in the negotiations to repeal and replace Obamacare -- Trump's first major legislative test -- revealing through accounts of people who were there how little Trump seemed to understand or care about the details of the bill.
