This documentary is exquisitely remarkable, thanks to the engineering of tiny camera and collars the animals wear. I was quite impressed with everything about this show. It offers rare glimpses into the lives of many animals including chimpanzees, penguins and meerkats. And, that is only in Episode 1! There are three episodes included in this collection. It is fascinating to see the birthing chamber of the meerkats and see their new pups at five days old. It is wonderful to see how bonded the chimpanzee family is. The film is educational and thoroughly entertaining as you observe these animals lives from their own point of view. The film shows many things that have never been seen before. I really enjoyed watching how the young penguins learn to hunt in the ocean and how the adults feed their babies. Thanks to these little cameras they wear on their backs we see a totally new aspect of these animals. I was just amazed as I watched them swim past shrimp and to reach their superfood - anchovies. I recommend them this film for ages 7 to 18 as well as adults. The groundbreaking footage will truly sweep you away. I give this 5 stars out of 5 stars. It is absolutely one of my new favorite Nature films from PBS. I plan to watch it again! Reviewed by Denise A. Bloomfield
Wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan and animal behaviorists join forces to explore stories of animal lives "told" by the animals themselves. The series explores the secret side of the animal kingdom where human cameramen can't go, and camera-wearing animals film their own stories. Sprint across the savannah with a cheetah, plunge into the ocean with a seal, and swing through the trees with a chimp!
