I enjoyed this short film with its lesson about saving and spending. The story is about a little boy who lives with his parents, two young Chinese immigrants. While shopping one day, a Superman costume catches his attention and he pleads for his dad to buy it for him. His dad draws the line, saying that his son has to earn the money to buy the costume. He buys his son a piggy bank and the boy names it Peaches. He begins to learn a valuable lesson. In the end, the boy might have learned even more than his father has. The cinematography is very good, capturing beautiful shots of the skyline of where the boy lives. The message of this film is that you have to work for what you desire. The boy learns this and it changes his outlook on money. It has a surprise ending which you will enjoy. I give this film 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 3 to 15 as well as adults.
A well-intentioned Chinese immigrant father tries to teach his son, David, how to "make it" in America. When David becomes enamored by a Superman costume in a store window, his father sees an opportunity to impart to him the importance of hard work, thrift, and delayed gratification. But when the time comes for David to reap the rewards of his efforts, it turns out that the lessons he's learned transcend those his father intended. Revealing the human capacity for connection, compassion, and sacrifice, Someone Good Will Find You is a story about the lessons parents try to teach their children, and the unintended ones children learn on their own.
