This is an inspiring short film about a young girl who achieves her goals, follows her dreams and overcomes the bullying directed at her. It is a great family movie and has a very strong message that will definitely spark a conversation between parents and their children. Shake It Off tells kids that you can put your mind to something and make it happen. The script is a little cheesy and predictable, but the production quality is pretty high and the cast especially the lead, quite outstanding. The protagonist is absolutely adorable and a great dancer to boot. The cinematography is quite good and the cast and crew deliver a pretty fantastic movie that families will enjoy, especially those interested in dance. The most appealing thing about this film is its message: just because someone tells you that you can't do something, doesn't mean it's true. The film flows well and makes a lot of sense. The subject is handled well, although there is not really give a good explanation as to whether the bullies are reprimanded. Bullying is serious business, especially when directed at younger kids. This story avoids making the situation too depressing while at the same time it doesn't sugarcoat anything. I believe a child would enjoy this because it's entertaining to watch and it sends out a great message. I recommend this film for ages 7 to 11 and give it 4 out of 5 stars.
