Wow! My favorite film of this entire group of entries. This is simply fabulous! I can't say enough good things about this brilliant animated short! I definitely recommend this for the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival with its wonderfully simple story and fantastic animation. It is non-narrative which requires greater effort on the part of the filmmaker to get the full story across. That is done outstandingly well in this film. The animation is stunningly beautiful and looks as if it is hand drawn. Corky, the lead character is a bit creepy looking, but his intentions are so sweet that you can't help but like him. The background music is extraordinary and really drives the pace of the film in a good way. By the end of this film you feel really good about the way things go. Kids would love to believe that inanimate objects in their home have mini adventures such as this when we are not around. It reminds me of Beauty and Beast with all the dancing and moving household objects. I was ready for the musical soundtrack and singing. (doesn't happen but it truly could) This would be fabulous to watch on the big screen. I'm sure it will be a hit at any film festival suited for kids and families. I recommend this for ages 4 to 18 as well as adults and give it 5 out of 5 stars. Reviewed by Rachael V. and Julie S., KIDS FIRST! Jurors.
A corkscrew with a screw loose battles a giant glass bottle to uncork seven magical lightning bugs trapped inside. The animated short has no dialogue. The story relies on visual story telling to express its themes of acceptance despite appearance and gratitude through understanding. In today's world, perhaps this tiny reminder can go a long way. Uncork the magic!!
