I found this movie to be enjoyable and charming. It is a simple film and I like that. It isn't overly complicated and is very easy to follow. This is very clearly a comedy and does a decent job as a comedy. Some moments are legitimately really funny. However, the comedy was clearly supposed to be over the top, which, sadly it didn't quite get to. While the over the top expressions are really funny, the movement is not. The girl runs flailing her arms like she's on a sugar rush and she just looks ridiculous. I don't know if she was told to flail her arms or not, but either way it looks too silly is really distracting. One thing that confuses me, is when the grandma's blindfold is lifted by the wind. Even though she is able to see, she continues to acts as if she doesn't. Unless the sunglasses imply she is blind, which makes the blindfold even more useless. The sound is the best aspect of the film because it has no dialogue. Flawed, but still enjoyable. I give it 3 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 18. Reviewed by Calista B., KIDS FIRST! Recommended. I love the young actress who plays the girl. She has a wonderful sense of delivery and style. The background music is equally appealing and the young guitarist's deadpan humor is also well played. The grandmother (the director's actual great grandmother) steals the show. This is a fun multi-generational short that would fare well at a family film festival. Reviewed by Julie S., KIDS FIRST! Adult juror.
A young girl arranges an elaborate picnic for her 92-year-old great-grandmother but for one reason or another things don't go as planned.
