The Emissary is a different and enjoyable space story. It has several points that make you think 1) You are who you associate with, 2) Is there a difference between a jack-ass and a regular ass?, 3) Everyone can experience the 3 Legs on the Chair of Happiness - Love Relationship, Meaningful Work and Physical Challenge. In the beginning, the film moves a bit slow and it's a challenge to understand the characters. As it progresses, the story becomes clearer. It refers to events surrounding the lost ship, the Edmund Fitzgerald and the recovery of a generator that might cause damage. It makes you think about other universes and space exploration. The visual are excellent with beautiful scenes of Wisconsin's state parks, lakes and surrounding towns. Excellent renditions of a space craft makes it believable. I recommend this for the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival because it is filled with adventure, drama and some comedy. We follow the four main characters as they set out on their mission. A child who interested in space, aliens and science fiction will enjoy this. I give it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 18. Reviewed by Juanita L. and Julia S. KIDS FIRST! Jurors
Jim, a curious engineer and scientist, is beginning to learn mindfulness mediation, and drags two of his friends into the woods for a sunset "awareness" walk. They accidentally meet a mysterious spaceman named Koyper, who has travelled to Earth from a secret alien-built colony of humans living on the edge of the solar system. His mission: deactivate a worn-out alien power generator, lost decades before during the shipwreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald...but get in a round of mini-golf, eat ice-cream for the first time and drive go-karts while he's at it.
