LOST CITY OF Z, THE cover image
I really enjoyed The Lost City of Z, an interesting nonfiction film that highlights certain aspects of history from the viewpoint of an explorer in the 1900s. The film is based on true events, revealing the history of the lost city.

The Lost City of Z explains the tale of British Explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), who finds various artifacts that prove to be evidence of a lost city that once resided in the Amazon. His findings and beliefs are ridiculed by many who do not want to believe that there once was an advanced civilization where savages live today. Eager to prove them wrong, Fawcett travels into the Amazon multiple times with his aide de camp Henry Costin (Robert Pattinson) and his son Jack Fawcett (Tom Holland).

The setting of the film captured my interest with its realistic Amazonian look, luscious plant life, rapid rivers and villages portrayed throughout. I was mesmerized by the attention to detail. Additionally, the tribes who are described as "savages" are played marvelously and their cultures are depicted accurately. The history shown throughout The Lost City of Z is displayed in an interesting way, making the history fun to learn and easy to understand.

The Lost City of Z displays the courageous acts of Percy Fawcett in his historical exploration. His ambition and bravery is excitingly portrayed as we delve into the history of a past civilization. I absolutely recommend this film for ages 13 to 18 and think adults will enjoy it as well. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This film opens in theaters nationwide on April 21 so, go check it out.

The Lost City of Z tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett, who journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. Despite being ridiculed by the scientific establishment who regard indigenous populations as "savages," the determined Fawcett - supported by his devoted wife, son and aide de camp returns time and again to his beloved jungle in an attempt to prove his case, culminating in his mysterious disappearance in 1925.
