I loved this multiple non-narrative, award-winning animation...everything about it visually, aurally, and metaphorically. The story is about a character, M.E., who is born in a room of spheres and endowed with life and consciousness by the Light. As he wakes up to his reality, he is delighted and distracted by the bright colors of the spheres that light up at his command. Then he spots a bright white light hanging in the room. At first he in awe of it, but then becomes frustrated when he can't control it at will. His frustration turns to anger as the light eludes him again and again. Each time he tries to possess the light, he falls, undone by the very spheres that once delighted him so. Then, he is consumed by his anger, and buried by the spheres.Finally, in a state of surrender, one sad tear rolls down his face and re-lights everything. In the end, he becomes one with the Light, only to be reborn. All of this -- in 8 minutes! Recommended for ages 8 to 18. 5 out of 5 stars. Reviewed by Ann B., KIDS FIRST! Juror.
