While Catching Hail is a sort film, it is full of messages for adults and children. Enjoy life, especially summer vacations. The film shows that chivalry is still alive when Coach carries Ms. Young's box out to her vehicle. Coach says "it is hard being destructive when you are out being constructive" when he talks about how he mows lawns and pulls weeds in the summer. The very important message is that adults (parents) who have been together for a long time will not always have sunny and bright days. There will be times when they are "Catching Hail".
