A sci-fi tale about bright teens struggling for normalcy despite WWII and dysfunctional families. The dysfunction is deep and the screenplay deals with some pretty heavy-duty issues in a way that many teens today would be able to relate to. Although the script touches on issues of child sexual abuse and alcoholism, it is approached in a realistic, true-to-life manner. The sci fi military twist makes this quite unique and interesting. Some of the story line makes me uncomfortable, such as Bruno (age 23) dating and having sex with another character's mother. These intense issues and sexual conduct is also the reason we do not recommend the title for kids under age 15.
A science fiction tale of bright teens struggling for normalcy in spite of WWII and their dysfunctional families. When The Orb makes its move, the kids face decisions that could alter their future, and perhaps that of the world. A patriotic story for all who believe that good must triumph, and that what is lost must be found - or found out.
