If you're a kid who enjoys funny, crazy cartoons, then this movie is for you! I enjoyed this storyline because it was original and wacky. This movie is about Tommy Pickles and his friends, an unusual group of kids who end up in some crazy situations while trying to return Tommy's baby brother to the hospital. They get REALLY lost and must then find their way back home. This movie is based on the Nickelodeon cartoon TV series, The Rugrats, which is still being shown today. It was the first ever animated film released from Nickelodeon. They use a lot of the original TV voice actors for the movie and there are also a few celebrity additions like David Spade and Whoopi Goldberg. They added a lot of excitement to the film. The main character, Tommy Pickles, is very likeable. The story begins when he is about to become a big brother. He is really excited until his friends tell him that his parents won't pay attention to him anymore! Once Baby Dylan is born, he becomes a real problem for the entire family. He never stops crying, he refuses to sleep and he makes a mess everywhere. This forces Tommy and his friends to decide to take him back to where he came from...the hospital! I have to say that I didn't really enjoy this movie as much as other cartoon movies or Nickelodeon TV shows that I've watched. The baby cries a lot, and it was as annoying for me as it was for the parents and the other kids in the story. There were some good jokes, but others were not as funny. The animation was not that great, compared to other movies I'm used to seeing but is was made in 1998 and I think a lot has improved with animation since then. Although this was not my favorite film, there were many enjoyable moments. I thought the songs in this movie were really good to listen to, especially because it gave me a break from all the crying. Also, even though he is annoying, Dyl is an adorable character. Even his name is adorable - Dyl Pickles! I am giving this film a 2 out of 5 stars. Since it has a lot of silly moments and wacky dialog, I am recommending this movie for ages 5-9 years old. Look for this classic family film on HD Net Movies Kid Scene this month.
