This movie is about friendship and teaches how evil can be disguised. Twilight Sparkle loves to read and study. Sometimes she does not talk to any of her friends and just study. The princess sent her on a mission and reminded Twilight Sparkle to make friends. Her mission to search for all six gems of the magic spell to make the darkness pony vanish, so night will not last forever. Five other ponies join Twilight Sparkle to search for these Gems. All five ponies have special gifts, and different personalities, this makes it very entertaining. Apple Jack is a harvest pony, she plants apples. Pinky Pie is a very talkative pony. She can talk her way out of anything. Flutter Shy is a nature lover and conducts music. Rainbow Dash controls the weather and Ponyville. And Rarity is a fashion pony. She gave up her beautiful ponytail to help others. They all join forces with Twilight Sparkle to find the gems. During her mission, Twilight Sparkle realizes the value of friendship and how evil can be disguised. The five new friends are able to help her escape danger. Twilight learned to balance her study time and fun time. The graphics in this movie are standard, there are no special effects. The music is very upbeat, but they tend to play the theme music too many times. This movie is good for 4 to 8 years old. I recommend this age group because the story line is easy to follow and the music is upbeat. I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars. Cheyenne Nguyen, age 8, KIDS FIRST! Film Critic
We love the animation. She captures a whole world and draws you in. The ponies are adorable, sassy and magical. The story lines are funny and uplifting. I love the style, even better than the original. There is an added element of adventure and fun. The overall visual appeal, sound quality and production are excellent. The voice acting and singing is fantastic and the animation is brilliant. It shows that friends are wonderful, that we all make mistakes and no one is perfect, but as friends, we stand by each other and help when we are in need. This is shown in a light and fun way. Covers a large age group audience, even though at first glance it seems very young, the stories are really well written and the content shines.
