Having to deal with a certain amount of bullying himself at school, my nine-year-old seemed to really relate to this film. It made him think about his favorite things and whether someone would think they weren't cool. He found the twist at the end to be a satisfying surprise.
Cute coming-of-age story about a kid who loves superheroes and is made fun of at school for playing with dolls (his action-figure superhero). Shows real emotion and the ability for even elementary school kids to make decisions about their own behavior. A nice message about the balance we all have to make between what others think of us and what we feel on the inside. The kids are very believable and the story easy to follow. Good production values, you feel as if you are right there with them.
Kevin, a ten-year-old boy who loves comic books and action figures, hits the time where those things aren't 'cool' for the kids around him. After teasing and humiliation from his peers, he has to decide whether he is going to hide his toys away or play with them regardless of what others think.
