This student film draws you in from the start. The woods feel as if they are alive. There is a hint of eeriness in the beginning but it disappears as the story develops. The special effects are quite admirable, particularly from an independent filmmaker. There are some scenes where the woods appear to be calling out to the boy. This short film has a great message and a great ending. I like how the boy never allows others to discourage him from his curiosity of the forest. It's almost as if he is "guided" by the spirits of the forest. We see good moral behavior and even heroism in the boy who follows his intuition even when others question his behavior. In the end, he saves the day more than once. Quite charming. Good discussion starter.
A young boy's unique ability to listen to the natural world is tested when he chooses making friends over his mystical gift.
