There is a young man named Jonny, who really has bad luck, especially with his jobs. There are also bad buys looking for a sunken treasure. Jonny meets up with Captain Squid, who is also looking for this treasure, and this is their comedy adventure. The kids would like some better special effects. Kids learn that your luck can get better and you shouldn't give up. "My favorite part is when the Mermaid turns into a real woman and ends up with Jonny (said one girl.)" The boys like when Captain Squid finds the treasure and the bad guys don't. Many of the kids find this to be plain "silly" and "funny." Jonny is a favorite with the kids. Kids sing along with the "Uh Oh" song. Jonny's facial expressions keep the kids laughing and engaged.
Jonny and Captain Squid are likeable characters. Seems like a TV movie and some of scenes are lacking and don't hold your interest. The clay-mation is fun. Mostly for entertainment purposes, there are some positive messages, such as Captain Squid telling Jonny that love is not about money and buying things, and that someone should love him for who he is. It has a satisfying and happy ending.
Watch Jonny grow from clumsy to hero in this pirate's movie, follow him and Captain Squid to the treasure. Can he find the treasure and shake off the pirates from the South Pacific Islands? Cast: Richard Moll, Donovan Scott, Lou Rawls and Jay Sefton.
