'The Goonies' is a classic adventure film that our youth film critics absolutely loved. Here's Raven's review: I remember watching it all the time when I was younger and I enjoy it as much now as I did back then. The cinematography is good because it shows the age of the film. I also think the visual aspects of the chain reactions leading up to the contraptions are cool. When I was little I traveled in the area where 'The Goonies' was filmed, which was pretty interesting to see. My favorite character is Data because he is very funny and all of his inventions are super helpful in the search to find one-eyed-Willy and his treasure. I think this movie is for ages 10 and up because there is some inappropriate language. However, I don't remember noticing any of that when I was younger and I recently watched with my little brother who is 7, and he didn't seem to notice either. I guess it really just depends on the maturity of each child. Overall, I give 'The Goonies' 4 out of 5 stars because it is very entertaining and it has a good story line. This classic Spielberg film (1985) often comes up on people's 10 fave lists. It is filled with action, treasure maps, a buried pirate treasure and told with sense of style that keeps you glued to the screen. It is now somewhat dated with its special effects but still has the ingredients that kids love - solving a mystery and outwitting the adults. It does contain some stereotyping and has some mild profanity and scary scenes.
A group of kids embark on a wild adventure after finding a pirate treasure map.
