A visual treat, watching so many kids playing, just playing... no media, no distractions. Nicely shot. Wonderful locations with lots of color, lovely background music that enhances without interfering. We see kids skipping rope, running, dancing, playing ball and having fun in a purely physical way. In this area of media encroachment, it's a joy watching this type of activity. There is a distinct lack of adults present but the beauty of children honestly playing is what it's all about. All the play is physical, non-judgmental and non-competitive. We see kids of every race, shape, age and size. There is no story line. It is completely non narrative. We see the beauty of childhood in its truest form through sounds and movement.
An unsupervised tribe of 75 children take over the entire city of New London, creating their rites and rituals through playing street games. Their spirit evokes hopes for the future but also melancholy about the disappearance of children's culture.
