I love this story. Bullying is such a timely topic and this story offers a great lesson about learning to accept people who are different. Ask yourself, "is he a good person," when deciding how you feel about someone. Daniel is developmentally disabled and looks very different from the others. He is a "crazy dreamer" and collects smooth stones with magical properties, which he disseminates to others to help them. Matt doesn't like him because he's different, but in the process of the movie, he learns a lesson about the worth of a person when they have to help each other. The acting is a bit stilted at times and the dialogue feels a bit forced. Also, there are moments where it is difficult to hear the dialogue. Seeing kids being mean to each other is not enjoyable but that doesn't take away from the story being told. The relationship, conveyed in just a few short scenes, between Daniel and his little sister, is very special and nicely portrayed.
Bullies come in all varieties, but have one thing in common-fear. When a strange new kid, Daniel, shows up on Matt's soccer team, he proves how the weakest among us can become the strongest.
