I was a little frightened at first by the grown man who believes his monkey puppet is real, but the message is enticing and the characters very likeable. Gerald sees a psychiatrist, while his puppet, Peter, explains to the doctor that he wants to go out with Gerald and see the world. Outside, Peter makes friends, by engaging people, complimenting them and getting to know them. Gerald explains that people don't like to be bothered, but Peter wins out by scoring him a big wine purchase at his restaurant job and connecting him with a young woman who has similar interests. Peter is a good conduit for Gerald to break out of his shyness. Though strange, it is definitely fun to watch. Realistic sets, good background music, believable characters and a good lesson in the importance of connecting with others.
Gerald, a socially-awkward young man whose best friend, Peter, a monkey puppet, teaches him how to interact with strangers.
