The kids identified with the endearing characters. Lots of laughs and attention. Children were repeating the words from the show later on and some using the new words on a daily basis.
The characters are cute, their costumes colorful and realistic. WordGirl is always upbeat and never has anything mean to say. Fast-pace. She teaches kids the meaning of synonyms and antonyms, when WordGirl has a party called "opposite day" and you have to say the opposite of what you mean. Gets kids thinking about words they haven't heard before, like "retire", not only explaining it in a fun way, but also acting it out in a fun way. The characters are cooperative, helping each other understand how the different words are used. Each episode works through an emotional problem and encourages kids to stand up for what they believe in.
Animated series with an emphasis on fun and action, but with a core educational goal to enhance vocabulary by introducing kids to new words each episode.
