Kids enjoyed this. "I liked the beetles." "Back scratching was funny." The characters "helped each other find a way for Benita to scratch her back. They are helpful." "I want to scratch my back like a bear!" "I want to dig like a beetle." The kids were mostly engaged. Some wandered. They were left feeling like it is okay to learn about new things.
Well done. Information is incredibly accurate and is aided by real life pictures of the animals. The vocabulary is age appropriate and works well with the characters. Each episode starts with an idea, which leads the characters to explore their world for animals with certain characteristics. We learn about different animals, about their characteristics, commonalities and strengths. "I like how the animals interact with nature and work cooperatively together." Exposes young children to new animals and new facts about animals. The use of "real-life" pictures adds to the educational benefits. Children are exposed to real animals in their real habitats, which expands their understanding of the natural world.
Bring the natural world to life for your preschooler in National Wildlife Federation's new animated series. Episodes include: "Beetle Mania," "Scratch My Back" and "Legwork."
