The children seemed engaged. "I like Captain Huggy Face, he was so funny and talked in monkey talk." "I like WordGirl because she is so cool and can defeat super villains." "It made me want to learn how to spell the words." "It made me thin about how everyone has a different point of view. It was funny hearing about how each person told the same story in a different way."
This is a good title for children to watch to learn about caring for the earth we live on. WordGirl takes time to explain why we should care about our communities and that it's important the we all take the time to be responsible with recycling our trash. Several large words are explained in a simple and fun way. The characters are likeable and it is funny to several different age levels. Each segment defines two words, repeating them throughout the story and visibly demonstrates them to reinforce their meanings.
WordGirl fights crime and enriches vocabulary as she takes on villains. In "Earth Day Girl," villain Birthday Girl learns the Earth is having a special celebration (on her birthday!) she decides to teach the Earth a lesson. Can WordGirl save the day?
