Four "tweens" assigned to present a class project regarding "going green," inadvertently discover that a local power plant is covering up illegal practices and has wrongfully fired one of their parents. The kids pool their brain-power and technological skills to find a way to expose the crime and ensure justice. The story is fast-paced with plenty of action, intrigue and clever humor. It is delightful. The dialogue is creative and distinctive and I appreciate the richness of the language. Several "fun" elements to the story, using surfing scenes and competition, and the spy gear details, that allowed the kids to solve their mystery, adds to the entertainment value of a rather serious and important story.
Four sixth graders on assignment take on the local power plant in an attempt to convince the company to convert to solar. Faced with rejection, an employee's dubious layoff and a shady CEO, the children investigate and uncover an embezzlement ring.
