Lovely piece of animation. Great story about friendship found in the most unexpected places. Very engaging and entertaining for adults as well as children. Animation, dialog and music are outstanding. This is an adorable story with stunning graphics. It shows how strangers may come into your life unexpectedly and might sometimes be bothersome but actually you can end up being great friends. The expressions of the characters are priceless. Well paced. There are lots of subtle twists to the story and the potentially scary scenes end up in such a way that they are not scary at all. Older kids will get a sense of adventure. For example, when the sea monster comes near then, we soon find out it's an octopus coming to help. Good discussion starter about friendship. The boy' escapades are completely unrealistic; this is pure fantasy. It is a remarkable adventure, full of challenges and some one mildly frightening scene. The ending truly brought a little tear to my eye. I would soooooo enjoy showing this to a child. My grandsons will love this.
A little boy finds a penguin on his doorstep, and though at first unsure what to do, the boy becomes determined to help the penguin find his way back home. Even if that means rowing all the way to the South Pole! Based on the book by Oliver Jeffers, directed by Philip Hunt.
