Kids enjoyed this. "I liked it. I saw some of the other movies like this and I liked them too." I" It made me think about living back in those times and how hard it must have been." All felt it was very realistic. "This could have easily happened in the old mid west towns." "I want to see the next one t see what happens to the people in the show." "I wonder if we still have that disease (cholera) today. I'm going to look it up on the internet." Favorite part: "When they discovered the contaminated well was the source of the disease because I had thought all along that there was something wrong with the orphanage pump." "When she took the orphan girl to live with her and then bog married to the blacksmith."
This is a great film and part of a wonderful series based on the books by Janette Oke. It is somewhat reminiscent of the "Little House on the Prairie" TV series. Also, it takes one back to an earlier time when some of the problems and challenges were different yet still people needed to work together to solve them. Stylistically, it is well structured. The plot is the right level of complexity for this age group and it appears to accurately portray the time period in which it takes place. At least it is consistent with American history. There is no foul language, sexual innuendo or senseless violence. It offers positive role models although they are all Caucasian. Perhaps some of the townspeople were of different ethnicities but certainly, the main characters were not. Most importantly, it tells an uplifting and inspiring story and makes you think about your own faith and how strong it is. It really shows the strength of people's character.
From award-winning author Janette Oke comes the seventh chapter in the Love Comes Softly series, Love Takes Wing. The story picks up where the last chapter left off as Dr. Belinda Simpson (Sarah Jones) returns from Boston and takes on a new adventure as she makes her way to Missouri with her best friend Annie (Haylie Duff) to become the town doctor.. Starring Cloris Leachman, Lou Diamond Phillips, Haylie Duff, Patrick Duffy, Jordan Bridges and Annalise Basso.
